Instructional Media Center (IMC) Manual

          


OUR MISSION

             To support the instructional, research and service goals of the college by working collaboratively, creatively and efficiently to:

v                                  Provide services that support physical and intellectual access to information resources in fulfillment of the present and anticipated needs of students, faculty and staff and, as appropriate, to alumni and the broader public.

     Provide assistance and instruction on how to use resources.
v                                     
                    Provide facilities and space to accommodate the library’s collections and services as well as research and study.


VISSION

            Leadership through excellent, innovative and effective service.

The Instructional Media Center hand in hand with the College Library seeks to:

1.      Support the vision-mission, goals, commitments and objectives of the SSC-R.
2.      Provide adequate research, reference, instructional, informational, and recreational resources that will meet the needs and requirements of the SSC-R students, faculty, and other college personnel.
3.      Prepare, select, organize and administer the materials that will easily make available and accessible to faculty, students, and administrators.
4.      Support the faculty in the selection and effective use of different instructional materials to make the teaching-learning process more motivating and significant.
5.      Guide faculty and students in the use and proper care of print and non-print materials and equipments.
6.      Encourage the faculty and students to develop a love to care for the materials and equipments and maximizing the use of materials, equipments and facilities for instruction.

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

VIEWING Room, lcd projector, VHS/DVD Player, Speaker and Microphone reservation

1.      Reserve the room or equipment at least one day before the desired activity.
2.      Availability of the room or equipment is on a first come-first served basis.
3.      A/V Equipments are loaned only with the present roster of SSC-R faculty member.
4.     Check the LCD Projector peripherals (VGA and Power Cable with adaptor) before taking it out and before returning it to IMC.
5.      Students are not allowed to enter the A/V room without the professor concerned.
6.      Littering in the A/V ROOM is strictly forbidden.  Pick-up tiny litter before going out of the area.
7.      To better facilitate activity at the Viewing Room, notify in advance what additional equipment, cables will be used.

VIDEO COVERAGE

1.      It is advisable that video coverage be included during event preparation.
2.      Coverage of the event request must be made one month before the occasion to facilitate scheduling.
3.      Allow two days to receive a raw copy of the event. Editing and Graphics generation will need extra days.
4.      Additional copies will be charged.

DIGITAL CONVERSION

1.      Conversion from one format to another is on a scheduled basis.
2.      Specify the Current format and the desired format to eliminate error.
3.      A copy of the material will be kept to update the IMC collection.

INSTRUCTIONAL MEDIA MATERIAL

1.      AV materials (VHS CASSETTE and DVD, TRANSPARENCIES) can be borrowed, limited to two pieces at a time for TWO (2) regular school days.
2.      Reproduction is authorized unless in violation of existing statutes.
